He is a highly acclaimed Indian actor, film producer, playback singer, and director, predominantly recognized for his work in the Malayalam film industry. With a prolific career spanning over four decades, Mohanlal has acted in more than 400 films, showcasing his versatility across various genres. He made his acting debut in the film Thiranottam (1978), but his first released film was Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980), where he played the antagonist. By the mid-1980s, he had established himself as a leading actor, gaining immense popularity with films like Rajavinte Makan (1986).

Mohanlal's contributions to Indian cinema have earned him numerous accolades, including five National Film Awards and several Kerala State Film Awards. He was honored with the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2019, recognizing his significant impact on the film industry.
